Shewolf
Shakira

This Colombian singer has always taken her time developing music projects—and we also listen to them attentively to analyze their virtues and shortcomings. With Shewolf, the pros are that it’s a well-balanced album and you notice the care placed in offering the public a quality product. Nevertheless, it’s still hard to understand the English lyrics due to Shakira’s very unique way of singing. In short: it’s a fun, varied CD that’s very much in line with contemporary tastes.

Nuestra casa a la izquierda del tiempo
La Oreja de Van Gogh

Visits to former homes or places we enjoyed are a frequent part of CD launches. By this, I mean that “new” albums composed of old hits appear too frequently. This one, with a title translated as “Our house to the left of time,” joins the list. The only difference is that now the singer is Leira, a new member of this Spanish band. Yes, there are new arrangements (including the participation of the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra), but the CD basically has songs already familiar to the group’s fans. We’ll wait for the launch of its “house to the right of time.”
